In late 2012 I met screenwriter/filmmaker Eric Hunsley, who was looking for a 3D Artist to animate his logo for his company Montclair Productions. Over the course of the next year, in between school projects, I worked on making this happen for him.
META is my second 16mm film and the first time I used artificial lighting with film. I took a different approach to storytelling all together from anything I’ve done in the past. I wanted to create a more abstract film geared towards evoking a feeling of love and desire rather than telling a linear narrative. In essence “META” tells the story of a female overcoming her fear and opening herself up to a man.
Maiden Flight is a story about the strength it takes to let go of what you love most by showing how far a handicap man will go to give his wife a dream, even if she is not alive to see it. In doing so he sees what he is capable of in spite of his despair…
In our world we pride ourselves on who we are and what we want to become. Often times creating our identities through the things we see around us. However, not everyone is in the right place to be able to find their identity.
Infinite is a short story of a ball’s attempt to fit into a world that doesn’t seem to have a place for it. Despite its optimism, it manages to leave a trail of destruction behind it, causing everyone to hate it. But even when you may not be able to see your place in the world, you still have a place in the universe.
My experience with zBrush had been very little prior to this project and I learned a lot while doing this. The assignment was to combine an animal with an everyday occupation, so what better than an ostrich hairdresser! Yes, the hairdryer prop that I modeled in my previous post was meant to be her accessory….
