This concept was created for a feature film idea that a good friend of mine began concepting for in 2010. My biggest challenge was to finish everything in a month while still having a believable render. After completing the GNN set I knew I had to work fast, knowing the majority of my time will be spent rendering.
My lighting setup only consisted of one main key light (directional light) which also provided my shadows, and two area lights. One area light was used to fake a bounce light on the back wall (behind the bed), while the other area light was used to emit photons (no light). Most of my textures were created in Photoshop, however, I used zBrush for the cardboard box, as I found it much faster to create more complex textures. I used Joe Alter’s Shave and a Haircut plugin for the rug, and Maya’s nCloth system to shape the blanket on the bed. I enjoyed this project greatly and look forward to producing more types of architectural renderings.
