My goal was to create a photo-realistic rendering of the hair dryer using only Maya. In addition to the modeling, I explored 3 different, 3 point light set ups for this prop. 3 point lighting is a system of lighting objects with three dedicated types of light. One light called a “Key” serves as the main light source. A second light called a “Fill” serves to add additional bounced light, and a third light called a “Rim” serves as a back light to the object, illuminating its edge, to help the object stand out from the background. Prior to this project I spent little time lighting objects because usually I am pressed to finish, so I appreciated having the time to do it better.
